Nucleotide pools and regulation of ribonucleic acid synthesis in yeast.

چکیده
Nucleotide pools were measured in growing and amino acid-starved Saccharomyces cerevisiae. During amino acid starvation there are neither significant changes in the endogeneous nucleoside triphosphate pool levels nor measurable synthesis of guanosine 5'-diphosphate, 3'-diphosphate. Stable ribonucleic acid synthesis does not appear to be regulated by changes in the triphosphate pools or by the unusual nucleotide guanosine 5'-diphosphate, 3'-diphosphate.

We have measured the pyrimidine nucleotide contents of the culture fluid, acid-soluble fraction, and acid-insoluble fraction of cultures of hamster embryo fibroblasts (third subculture) through the final two divisions of growth in culture. The cells show a growth delay between the penultimate and ultimate division periods and a concomitant biochemical synchrony of pyrimidine metabolism. The cel...

A 50-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of yeast nucleotide in diets on growth performance, serum immune indices and muscle composition of Ancherythroculter nigrocauda (mean initial body weight, 23.30±0.59 g). Seven isonitrogenous (approximately 42.76% crude protein) and isoenergetic (17.43 KJ g−1 gross energy) experimental diets with varying levels of yeast nucleotide (0[c...
متن کاملTrace nucleotides in certain ribonucleic acids from yeast.
A number of trace nucleotides are reported to be present in ribonucleic acids from various sources. Cohn (I) and Davis and Allen (2) have described a nucleotide in yeast ribonucleic acids, the nucleoside of which has recently been identified as 5ribosyluracil.’ Littlefield and Dunn (3) have found small amounts of thymine, 2-methyladenine, N6-methyladenine2 (6methylaminopurine), and Ne-dimethyla...
متن کاملOn the action of ribonuclease.
In an earlier investigation from this laboratory (I), prostatic phosphomonoesterase was used for the partition of the phosphomonoester and phosphodiester groups in ribonuclease digests. It was shown that the inorganic phosphate formed during incubation of ribonuclease digests with phosphatase originated practically exclusively from the acid-stable (pyrimidine) nucleotide groups of ribonucleic a...
متن کاملRole of isoleucyl-transfer ribonucleic acid synthetase in ribonucleic acid synthesis and enzyme repression in yeast.
Temperature-sensitive mutations in the isoleucyl-transfer ribonucleic acid (tRNA) synthetase of yeast, ilS(-)1-1 and ilS(-)1-2, were used to examine the role of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase enzymes in the regulation of ribonucleic acid (RNA) synthesis and enzyme synthesis in a eucaryotic organism. At the permissive temperature, 70 to 100% of the intracellular isoleucyl-tRNA was charged in mutants ...
